I
was called upon by a senior colleague to lead the group of hundreds of people in
worship during the three days missions supporters’ conference. With time, my
love for the course in discuss grew. There were several exhortations on the
strategies of taking the world by storm for God under the influence of the
power of the Holy Spirit. Hard truths such as happily preparing to embark on
death missions just for the sake of reaching the godless for Christ were
shared. During a special session for admonition on security, came this
macho-man on the topic of security consciousness. He shared for about twenty minutes after
which another man came up to give insight on who had just spoken to us. (At
this point I was no longer only a guest artiste but had become a member, I had
fallen in love with everything I saw and heard in this unique Conference). He
said Mr. Mike is a military commander who was
involved in the execution of several condemned criminals, did not allow any of
them to go to hell. In a rather confused state with both eyes gouged in
curiosity, I silently whispered, how? He continued that whenever he was sent to
execute condemned criminals and they are filed out with fire-armed marshals,
facing them with fierce look of death in their eyes, Mike would step forward as
in his usual custom, halt the firing squad in an address, gets close to the
criminals who are about to exit the earth in few minutes as they stand
defenselessly about ten metres away from the horrible looking military executioners. And to the first criminal Mr. Mike would
whisper with a rather Stern, non-joking, non-deceptive and
straight-to-the-point voice, “Hey! This is not a Joke; the next minute from now
you would either join a flight to hell or heaven. What you feel now is very
real, these guys you see here have been empowered by the government and are
ready to blow you apart with their bullets in those fire arms of theirs, and on
very rare occasion can anyone change the order once at this stage. Give your
life to Christ now or you die a sinner and join the wagon to suffer the worst
in hell”. This way Mike would get them accepting Jesus and saying the sinner’s
prayer one after the other and once he’s done, he would step aside and give his
military command. this has really made me live for something more important than what we humans most times chase after, but we all can begin to ad value to others anytime, anywhere, every day. give a try, you too can , just live for value and add it people no mater how small; l just like Mike added it to the Kingdom.
Does
it really make sense to have the life of condemned criminals on gallows set to
die swapped to life eternal within split seconds? To some it does, yet to
others, perhaps, it doesn’t because after all, they still joined mother earth
in body. But I think the drama on the cross of Christ would
help. Meanwhile; One of the greatest traits of a
great man is to know when to set aside the seemingly important things in other
to make happen the expedient.
